What is the difference between SI units and metric units?
Nothing. SI, or système internationial, is the modern metric system.
What are common SI units used in inorganic chemistry for mass, volume, distance and temperature?
Table 31.2:
Four common SI units in inorganic chemistry.
| Mass |
1 milligram (mg) = 0.001 g |
| |
1 gram (g) |
| |
1 kilogram (kg) = 1000 g |
| |
| Volume |
1 milliliter (mL) = 0.001 L |
| |
1 decaliter (dL) = 0.10 L |
| |
1 liter (L) |
| |
| Distance |
1 millimeter (mm) = 0.001 m |
| |
1 centimeter (cm) = 0.01 m |
| |
1 decameter (dm) = 0.1 m |
| |
1 meter (m) |
| |
1 kilometer (km) = 1000 m |
| |
| Temperature |
1 degree Celsius ( C) |
To convert to K, add 273.15 |
| |
1 degree Kelvin (K) |
To convert to C substract 273.15 |
