Titration

What are titration curves?

A graphical representation of pH changes when an acid or base is added to a solution.

What are indicators?

Molecules that change color depending on specific pH changes.

What is the equivalence point?

The point at which equal amounts of reactants have reacted and neither of them is in excess.

What is the neutral point?

The point at which the pH of a titration solution equals 7.

Label the various parts of the titration curve:

  1. pH drop at the start of the titration upon addition of a strong acid to a strong base.
  2. Equivalence point.
  3. End of titration with the solution pH approaching the pH of the strong acid.
