Alkynes

What are alkynes45.1?


Hydrocarbons containing at least one carbon-carbon triple bond (C$\equiv $C) making them unsaturated. Moreover, the carbons involved in the triple bond are $sp$ hybridized.

What is the IUPAC convention for naming alkynes?


Similar to alkenes, only that the suffix for alkynes is -yne.


What are the two simplest alkynes?


Ethyne45.2 and propyne.
