Units

What are the basic units of translational motion?

Distance ($x$) and time ($t$).

What are the first two derivatives of distance and time?

Although calculus is not on the MCAT, the derivations of velocity and acceleration are in fact the first and second derivatives of distance and time:

\begin{displaymath}
\frac{\Delta \ Distance}{\Delta \ Time} = Velocity = \frac{m}{s}
\end{displaymath} (60.1)

\begin{displaymath}
\frac{\Delta \ Velocity}{\Delta \ Time} = Acceleration = \frac{m/s}{s}= \frac{m}{s^{2}}
\end{displaymath} (60.2)
